Can't help on the reference materials ......... but when you come to build your deck gun - we have a WW1 deck gun in Ward Park here in Bangor (thats the Northern Ireland Bangor btw!). It was presented to the town to commemorate the award of a Victoria Cross to one of our residents at that time. I'd be happy to take digital pics for you and dig out any information about it if required.
I need leads to reference materials and photos and especialy plan and section drawings
website or books or what have you please help if possible
chuck
As for german WWI u-booten you can find plans and section drawings of most of them (not to mention the WWII and modern U-boot plans!!) in the excellent "History of German Submarines" by Eberhard Rössler. You can find it at a very good price in Amazon (look in the used section, I bough mine "new" for half the retail price)
Of course, one of the best sources for free subs plans on line]Heiszwolf site
There you can find a plan of the U-1 (1906)
Chuck,
The Eberhard Rossler book That Gerwalk is refering to (I think) is ISBN 0-304-36120-8. I bought a copy from Tim Smalley that he had posted in sub swap. There are lots of line drawings and pictures, The line drawings may have to be made larger for your use.
Check with Tim to see if he has another copy, he might. If not they are available through Amazon.
Hope this helps.

P.S. The actual title is "The U-Boat The evolution and technical history of German submarines"
Amazing though it may seem today was dry and sunny - 17 degrees C here at this time of year is positively tropical! Ive taken 38 pics for you Charlie - but how to send them? I used my Canon D10 SLR so each file is around 1.2 megs - it means you should be able to zoom in really closely to any detail that takes your fancy.

As you will see the gun is actually a 10.5 cm weapon taken from UB19 and given that it has been around for about 90 years is in remarkable condition.
OK. Sorry for the simplified title of Rössler book I posted, I was quoting it by memory...BTW]Amazon: Rössler book
The original german version has two parts and has more plans. The english version is a compact version of the former but the ammount and quality of information (aside from the excelent and original plans and schematics and photos) it contains is amazing!
As for a good reference for WWI u-boot guns]WWI u-boot guns
Gerwalk,
My memory is no better than yours I was just lucky enough to have the book next me. My reference to the actual title was mearly to help if Chuck did a search so he would know he had the right hit. I hope you and I are fine as no slight on my part was intended.
Take Care.

Don't worry Boss! I was apologizing myself since I'm always try to quote the references as accurate as possible.
Talking about reference books: there is another book available with references for WWI u-boot:
"U-boats of the Kaiser's Navy" (New Vanguard 50)
Author: Gordon Williamson, Illustrator: Ian Palmer, ISBN: 1841763624. I've read some reviews on this particular book that were not very possitive.
BTW: It would be great to have good references on the U-35 (most succesful u-boat in WWI) It would make a very intersting model!
I know this is a old posting but was wondering if anyone was able to locate sufficient plans & reference material to build either U-9 or U-35? I have already ordered Rossler's book but still looking for addtional material.
Am interested myself in building a WWI u-boat. Have several 1/72 scale Revell & MPM static dive conversions, & now want to explore the earlier era.
