    1/32 LA!? Isn't that like

1/32 LA!? Isn't that like almost twelve feet long with a beam of one foot? How do you get that in and out of the water?
LOL. Yep, 11' 3" to be exact and 12 3/8" beam. If you're going to be a bear then be a grizzly!

Depending on how much it turns out weighing will determine how I launch it. I have a small trailer to carry it but I think I will be able to rig something for my pickup to allow me to slide it down into the water much like a log flume. (SP?). What ever it takes...

I have some pictures of the R/C unit I built and a picture of the foam core of the hull but I don't know how to post a pix on here.

Really that isn't such a bad idea. I mean when you think about all the people that cart around small cabin cruisers and speed boats, what is so crazy about having an 11' long submarine in a trailer? Not a bad idea.

        How many channels?

                Trailers -

A friend of mine who had a ten foot RC'ed model of the battleship Missouri made a "trailer" from the top (smaller) portion an old extension ladder.

He slid it up into the bed of his pickup. Had wheels on one and and he used the other end as handles - like a wheelbarrow.

At 11' 3" I am thinking of something along the lines of the "ladder trailer" myself. I would rather not have to use a real trailer to haul it around, rather I want to come up with something that will fit up and over the cab of my Dodge pickup, sort of like a "missle" launcher.. .

I am late in getting on this topic
I am over hauling my TI nautilus, I toss me home brew WTC leaked like a sive
now using a custom length wtc from parts D&E parts laying around the shop trying to get all the planes to work and banging my head on the bench for ideas on a ballast system
and the 32p type XXIII is still hopelessly in drydock to deal with the brittlness issues I might have to glass the entire inside+ the tower
no mention of the 11 boats going for clients

I have just finished a Robbie Type XXI with Engle piston tank, I am 75% through a 1/48 scale S-boat S-33 it will use a Small World Models WTC modified to hold a piston tank. I have perfected the torpedo launch on U-57 (Type II) re-fit USS Scorpion, re-fit USS Trutta and I have a 1/48 Type VII on the way soon. Its been a busy year so far.... plus I spend half my time at sea aboard Ronald Reagan CVN 76.

                              I got the S-boat hull

I got the S-boat hull from Matt Spade, its a real beauty. I have the deck laid, hull scribed, limber holes cut out and nearly all the detail parts on at this time. I have been collecting WTC parts for awhile and will soon tackle the guts of the boat. I am undecided on the ballast system, either a piston tank or pump style. (I am moving away from gas ballast propel gets expensive).

                                I am making some progress

I am making some progress on my SSY 1/96 Ben Franklin.

Instead of keeping the hull sep. at the midline, i cut out the missile deck and joined the hull hlaves together. Access will be through the removable missile deck. I laid in some fiberglass inside the deck to make a perfectly formed indexing structure. I've alternated the indexing strips at certain points so that they will interlock and allow me to keep the entire deck secured with only one small set screw hidden in a vent hole.

I'm tossing out the planes and rudders and reworking a new, more accurate set that better represents SSBN 628 Tecumseh, which I am reworking this boat to represent.

Using a D&E WTC3.0, Thor electronics, and a Futaba 9-ch PCM radio (much more than I need, really).

Pics available for posting if interested.

I have a bet going to get this boat in the water for trials by April 15th. Um, yeah....good luck to me =)
