Looking for details on the vent openings above the waterline on the Alfa class boats....I believe I read somewhere that they are hinged. Can anyone tell me where (hinged at top and open at bottom, hinged at bottom and open at top, etc).
Most of the flood covers hinge at the bottom. As you get to the top of the hull,some swing forward or back.
I have a fair amount of detail on the Alfa. The spring issue of the Report had an article with some decent pictures in it, along with a couple of stories written by my friend Sergey, a former officer in the Soviet submarine forces.
