RN Churchill or Valiant class plans - Looking for british SSNs plans

Hi,
Does anybody has plans of the Churchill class subs? I'm specifically looking for the HMS Conqueror or HMS Courageous. I'm plannig to make a scale model of Conqueror as she was during the Malvinas/Falklands war.

It's amazing how little info is available on line on the subject, there are not even models. The best site so far is the HMS Courageous museum site. The people there is excellent and reply to my emails very soon but even they couldn't help me.

The only things they could provide me were some schematics but not real plans.

It's amazing how these subs are being forgotten taking in consideration that HMS Conqueror was the first (and so far last ) SSN in firing a torpedo in anger. There is plenty of info and models on the Trafalgar class that has the only merit of being relatively "new" (not to mention about the dissastrous Upholder class).

For a long time i have wanted to get hold of Accurate information and plans on the Resolution class boats and do you think I could find anything. It is nearly impossible except for a couple of photo's that keep popping up in the same searches. These boats have been decommissioned for 10 years and you can't even get a dry dock photo

It's similar for many American boats. It's Ironic that i can get almost any information I want on Russian boats.

However keep persevering there has to be a chink in the obsessive security somewhere.

The Valiant class are among

The Valiant class are among the best/most elegant looking of all SSN's. If plans ever appear, I will build one in 1/72 scale. Period! Even just some #### hull lines!

I know that there is a British company called Jecobin who do a Resolution plan set in 1/192 scale as I have a set they look pretty good and an accurate model would`t be hard to do as the plan includes drawings of the sections.

There are 2 possibilities and I mean possibilites on the Churchill front 1 is that Courageous is now a display piece at the Devonport dockyard in Plymouth UK ( I am sure it is Devonport) and the other is a bit of a stab in the dark but a few years ago Chatham Dockyard had what I think was a builders model of a Valiant class sub it was about 3`to 4` long, so it might pay to see if they can help. I know this is a little vague but it might help.

I've already contacted the HMS Courageous Association. They are very kind people and they provided me with valuable information and some diagrams but, surprisingly, they don't have any plans of the boat! I've also contacted the Maritime Museum library but they told me that the yard plans are still classified.

The Resolution was based on the Valiant class so her plans could be used for some parts of the Valiant/Churchill class as well.

I would love to visit those museums and take a thousand pics of the Courageous (from a modeler point of view)

R & R engineering once did a resolution kit.

I think the moulds are now in the hands of Mr Matt Thor.

If Jecobin do a plan, buy it. Their Vanguard class plans, whilst not 100% perfect, are very good indeed.

Right I have dug out

Right I have dug out the Jecobin plans that I have for the Resolution class. They were drawn back in 1981 but are very good indeed they are much crisper than the Vanguard drawings and are in 1/192 scale which brings the model to roughly 27" long they are on one sheet and retailed 4 years ago for about £10 I would guess about $16-18. I also agree with Andy they are definitely worth having.

I'm surprised that they don't allow cameras at the HMS Corageous museum! At least their site photo album is good.

Is amazing to see how the Royal Navy has more strict secrecy rules than the Russian and US Navys these days.
