    Rudder on Lafayette class

...I've been doing some picture hunting in prep for my Lafayette building project. In many of the photos I've found, it appears as though the top rudder is not one piece, but rather has a large base and only the top portion rotates. I've enclosed one of the pics below that I think best shows what I'm talking about.

Can anyone familiar with this class confirm this for me?

    thanks

I concur with Antoine, the upper 2/3 of rudder turns only with the full lower rudder. Also the picture is reversed (see draft numbers).

...i noticed that. alot of the pictures i found are mirrored. not sure why. but thanks for the confirmations about the rudder.

if i can get them scanned, i should sometime post the pics i have that were taken throught he periscope of the SSBN Tecumseh. there are about 15 photos in sequence of the sinking of a derelict (sp) vessel via torpedos fired from the sub. very crisp and clear photos, circa 1984, compliments of a former crew member, now my sister's husband.

After a brief 'search', astonished at the ample info out there, there should be no whining from modelers of these SSBN's. If so, these modelers are simply not working hard enough. Image 5 below is of the BRA-8 radio buoy recieving maintainence.

Last image is of Teddy Roosevelt (SSBN 600) of the separate completely different G. Washington class.
