    I don't think that's right either. Although I, myself, don't know what it is, I don't think that it's the voice tube. You can see the voice tube in it's usual place, peeking out, just to the right of the commander's cap.

      The thing you say is "peeking out" is not the voicetube. In good German it's called "Flustertute" with umlauts on the U's.
      In English it could be translated in "whispercone" A cone shaped metal apparatus to yell orders when docking.

          you know this was actually pretty fun I had just wanted a excplanation but wound up with a guessing game seriously this was a bit of fun
          I know there is a sub quiz should we try to continue this there I think we all could come up with unique little doo dads to continue this game

            That was excactly the word I was looking for. Shame on me, we've got practical the same word in Dutch for it. Could not remember it. Think its the aging process. And still we do not know for sure what it is on the foto.

              hey I think I have

              hey I think I have come up with an alternate idea on the tube in question
              in several books I have I have seen a similar tube connected to the bottum of the compasson the aft scope so could the boat in the photo been having troulbe with the main compass on the dashboard?
