Uboats from 39 to 45 new book - Anyone seen or purchased this book?

I posted this in the Books forum first and got no responses; figured I'd try here...

    Author - W. Trojca
    Title - Ubootwaffe, Marine-Kleinkampfverbunde 1939-1945

Hrdbnd. 614 pgs, 800 b&w photos, 4 A1 Fold-out maps w/ all locations of sunk Uboots and allied warships. 100 color profiles, 20 types of U-boots and 3D drawings. English text only.

this caught my eye...It's expensive ($114) but is it worth it?
    thanks,
    Sam

    Hi, Sam. I'm sorry to

Hi, Sam. I'm sorry to say that, I haven't seen this book, yet. So, "Is it worth it?", is not a question I can answer. For that price, I'd deffinitely have to page through it, before I'd buy it.
But a couple of thoughts do come to mind. First, I saw the Sub and Navy coffee table books, which used to sell for about $50 were on sale at Barnes and Noble for $25 yesterday. Maybe a little patience would be a good idea.
Secondly, there are, at least, two possible reasons for the price.
It may be aimed at a small, but fairly well off, audience. And, is of special interest, to that group. Wheither that group is us, or not, I don't know.
Then again, it may be, that the publisher didn't want to publish this type of subject, but was pressured, into publishing it, by company politics, or something. By putting this price tag on it, they can later say, "Look at the sales record of this type book. It doesn't sell. So we shouldn't publish this kind of thing again."
Just some thoughts. But I'd sure like to see the thing. Where did you see it?
    Mike

      Hiya Mike.
      I've seen the book

      Hiya Mike.
I've seen the book listed in a few places. Originally, I saw it in Polish? Czech? (non English!) somewhere on the web, but Great Models (www.greatmodels.com) is selling it, and the price was actually lower when it was "preorder" than it is now that it's published. Look on their front page, lower right, to see the cover art and link to it.

I think I'm going to buy it, as I don't believe this will ever make it to the "coffee table" version that we see in B&N type stores. I made the mistake once of passing on a huge 3 volume set of reference books on birds of prey...I could have had it for $75, but I procrastinated, and last time I saw one for sale, it was over double that price.
Specialty topics for special interest groups is what I believe these books are, so they are priced that way. I wish I would have seen the preorder for it. I'm actually going to call Great Models and ask about it as well.
      cheers,
      Sam

I just talked to GreatModels- they have high recommendations for the book; especially the maps and illustrations. I ordered one.

I have several books from Waldemar Trojca. One being, U-Boot Typ II,VII,XI. It is all pictures with English captions. Alot of the pictures are new to me, not the same old reruns.
I got mine on line from,Air Connection in Ontario, Canada. The web address is]www.airconnection.on.ca[/url]. They import some of the best books for modelers from Poland and the Czech Rebublic.
