U-boot search - I know that it exist...

Hi guys,

I know it exist, I have just 1 very hazy/bad photo of it. But I want more info before building it. I'm searching for numbers, information (flottile data) and photo's of a U-boot type VIIC/D with a double wintergarden and a heavy gun at the front like the older types.

Is there anyone who knows more of this boat?

That's the question. I know that there were a few training U-boats around with two wintergartens (newer tower-type) and a big gun up front. I'm in search for more pictures and details. They are very hard to come by. Most photo's are either the old version or the version with the snorkel up-front.

Thank you for the pictures. One picture particular. The one where you see the newer type tower and the gun upfront. I finally have proof the boat exist instead just rumours.

The first pic (with the gun in front of the tower) looks like a Type IX to me.
Look at the lower wintergarten and the way the side walls remain vertical for a long time. Compare this to other photos showing the tower of a VII with 2nd wintergarten.
I'd take this to the forum on U-boat.net.
