Since winter is approaching here in my part of the continent, I'm thinking about running subs in the lake when the season is nearing its end (I'm guessing end-March to mid-April) has any one tried to run their subs under the thin ice? Will the cold have an impact on the hull? In general. What about that cool effect of the conning tower emerging through the ice during emergency surface?

Wow, I've never actually thought about that. I only expected the WTC to be weakened a bit by the cold but now that you guys mentionned it's something to consider.... especially if you've got one of those water cooled motor or battery arrangements, they'll be probably cooled afterall!

Well, you guys can always bring your subs to a warmer winter climate where the water may not drop below 70 degrees in January!

Hi Tim, if you can
Hi Tim, if you can make the trip across the state to Naples, I'll take you to the lake I run in. It is about an hour and a half trip from FT Lauderdale across I75. The lake has a slight tea stain to it, but at 10 to 15 feet out I can see the bottom. Let me know if you are coming so I can get directions.

Hey guys,
There are a few lakes around here I run in, they are all about 20 min North of the Ft. Lauderdale area. I'd be interested in seeing some boats running if you plan on bringing some down. I have a few targets to play with.
