    I wouldn't call the Akula

[color=#000000]I wouldn't call the Akula a pool toy at all - I run mine very successfully in a very large lake with our boat club every fortnight. At 88cm long, it's not the biggest sub kit, but it's certainly large enough to handle most environments. In fact, I don't run it in backyard swimming pools anymore as I find they're too small for it! It goes nicely in the big 25m and 50m pools though.

As for a radio, you're going to want at least 4 channels]

Just for everyone's info... I've recently gotten a huge influx of requests for info on the Dumas Akula through our website.

Seems that it's size and price is appealing to a large range of people. In my opinion, this is great, as it will bring a lot more fresh blood into our hobby.

            I can't recommend the overall

I can't recommend the overall best place to order from, but I'm pretty happy with the package I got from SubTech .

I reckon the Dumas Akula a great beginner's sub, and everyone who sees it run is very impressed with its performance for a dynamic diver (ie. no ballast tank, for metal-x's benefit). IMHO this kit is a great example of the KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) principle.

I would recommend one of Skip Assay's kits, granted they are a little more than the Akula, but they have ballast tanks and run great.

                  Or - if you are

Or - if you are set on the Dumas Akula - get it from Skip at Subtech - www.rcboats.com

He upgrades the kit a little by putting in better pushrod selas etc. and also sells appearance upgrades to make the planes look more scale, etc.
