I got an e-mail from Manuel Pomares in Spain. He will be making a diorama of Seehunds in and out of the water and showing their arriving and being handled by crane. He needs some accurate WWII German shipyard crane images. It could be the taller, thin legged "sheer legs" crane or ones shorter, but with a long enough boom to transfer them into the water. I've got the one in Klaus Mattes book but it does not show much of the crane. Lots of Seehunds, though.
German Shipyard crane photos???? - Needed for doing a Seehund diorama.

FOR DIORAMA BUILDERS

FOR DIORAMA BUILDERS
My friend at a local military museum refered me to these two books. There are some good photos of interesting details for diorama builders.
"Naval Shipyards of the World," Robert J. Winklareth, Chatham Pub., London.
Diagrams of fixed and mobile cranes.
Photo of Blohm and Voss shipyard. Some possible (smaller) cranes at a distance.
"German Navy Handbook 1939-1945." Jak P. Mallmann Showell, Sutton Pub. Gloucestershire, 1999.
Interesting shows shipways of old Krupp Germania Works. An interesting smaller fixed crane. This is where the Seehunds were built. Although not the crane in the photo shown in Klaus Mattes' book Die Seehunde, this one most likely handled Seehunds.
