    type 9 u boat

    Good day all
I have a type 9 hull from ssy and I am looking for the best source for the details i.e deck flood drain holes etc.
Are there any laser cut brass or styreene decks available?
Any chance of Lee adding a deck too this hull kit?
    Thank you
    Rick Teskey

    rick one idea you might

rick one idea you might want to think about
I did a 9 a year or so ago and I used the squadron signal books but the best thing I found was a nichimo 1/200 model kit the detail is quite fantastic they show the diamond tread pattern on the bow and aft decks and the exterior torpedo stowage lockers it was a minor problem to scale all of it up

    just an idea

      Hi Rick..and everyone else..

      The best

      Hi Rick..and everyone else..

The best source for detail is Seaphoto, I took hundreds of photos on the U-505 deck and conning tower, I gave all of my negs over to Kurt at Seaphoto, several years ago.

Seaphoto is closed until Aug. 9th while he moves into his new location (house)

I would love to do up a deck, but I do not have the ability or the time to set up the artwork for it, I am willing to risk the cost of the photo tools and inventory for this item though, I just have to find someone willing to do the artwork. I will trade a qualified person a hull for it.

        Hi Rick, Will you be

Hi Rick, Will you be at Riverside Aug. 7? If you are I can bring one of my Type 9 kits. Are you doing the short or long tower. The decks are not the same.
Chris lent me his copy of THE type 9 book and I should soon have copies of the teck drawings, which I will gladly share.

            Hi Rick, sorry about not

Hi Rick, sorry about not leaving my name. I'm Dan O'Grady, you know, the tall American that hangs out with Bruce.
I'm building a SSY 1/48 type 9c with the long tower. I will bring both kits to Riverside and some copies of the teck drawings (if I can get them scanned in time).
            So see you Saturday!

As a former Buffalonian, I'm curious; where's Riverside? Is this a WNY meet, or over the border in Canada?

                Hi Sam, greetings from Western

Hi Sam, greetings from Western New York.
Riverside Park is on the Speed River in the city of Guelph, Ontario. It is about 83 miles or 83 minutes from the Rainbow bridge in Niagara Falls.
It is an ideal place to run subs. A water control dam upstream and a coffer dam to maintane water depth (4ft and clear). It is realy is a great place and the members of the Ontario Sub Club make it super.
Saturday is just a regular meeting and fun sail with some very nice guys. Darn good builders too!
