    Thanks for the information.
I will print this page off so I can use your steps to try and solve my problem.
Right now all I have is the Adobe Reader. I will download it and try what you suggest.

      If you happen to have

If you happen to have Adobe Illustrator or CorelDraw, they will open some Autocad formats and they will export jpegs, gifs et al.

If you export your Windows metafile (wmf) from Autocad, you can open it with Adobe Photoshop or Photodeluxe and then export a jpeg. Make it 800 pixels wide and it will be a good size to read without being too tough on your dialup people.

Far be it from me to malign Autocad in the company of so many engineers, but if you have access to another vector program you will probably find it's finished product prettier, easier to create, and easier to export for web purposes.

Thank you SAFROLE for the information. I believe I can get my hands on Adobe Photoshop.

Yes I have had trouble sharing AutoCad drawings.

What would you suggest for tracing old blueprints of submarines for sharing with others in the SubCommittee.

        thanks,

        Scott

            I don't have any to

I don't have any to scan at the moment but I do appreciate the offer.

My idea is to get some fleet boat drawings and trace them into AutoCad.

Why is it you see a load of u-boat blueprint drawings on the web but not one fleet boat blueprint drawing?

            thanks,

            Scott

              That 3 foot scanner has

That 3 foot scanner has me drooling, but it probably costs more than the car I'm driving...

I have to take large items and tape them onto the wall, photograph them with a good digital camera, and then use the picture as a template to build vectors. The amount of work Ed has offered is very generous, as building vectors over a scan can be quite tedious. You should definitely take him up on it.

Even just a good scan would be great. Then you can leave the tedious work to someone who actually needs such a file. That's what the high-res gifs are you see of the German boats on some websites.
