    Uss indianapolis (ca-35)

I wasn't sure if I should post this here or under "Surface Boats (i.e. Targets)" heading. I figured this was the better location, as the USS INDIANAPOLIS (SSN-697) was the third ship to be named for the city.

Quite a few years ago, at one of the Carmel SubRegattas, the INDIANAPOLIS Survivors Group had a table under one of the tents, and were selling their book "Only 317 Survived!" James E. O'Donnell, WT3C (Water Tender 3rd Class) was the INDIANAPOLIS survivor under the tent, autographing books and balls caps.

Just saw a story that Edgar Harrell, the last surviving U.S. Marine who served aboard USS INDIANAPOLIS, has passed away. There are five INDIANAPOLIS survivors left. Fair winds and following seas SGT Harrell.
