Never charge your R/C submarine again! Or installing a nuclear power plant in your su

I love all the new things coming out. Technology is fun. How much makes it into our hobby? Don't know, but this could be a fun technology for us.
Researchers at the University of Bristol have formed a company to commercialize highly efficient diamond-based betavoltaic battery technology that turns nuclear waste into a self-sustaining energy source – one that can last for potentially thousands of years without ever needing a charge.

Imagine, never needing to externally charge your radio or boat or a portable charger that you can take to the lake that you do not need to worry about connecting to a power source for, oh, 90 years!

    Peace,
    Tom
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

That's really cool, but the article basically says that the tech can't work in high-draw devices. For everything, it seems, there is always a tradeoff somewhere!

This may be an area where supercapacitors could come into play. But as stated in the article it makes it much bigger.
