I'm going to need to know exactly what I'm seeing here.

Is this a game? I used to be pretty informed on the computer sims out there for subs but this is new to me. SUPER interested.
Thanks er.. "Sub" Ed aka QuarterMaster

      "Cold Waters"

After tracking a Soviet landing force bound for Iceland it is time to plan your attack. Do you silently close in to torpedo the landing ships and escape during the resulting chaos? Or strike with long-range missiles but risk counterattack from the enemy escorts? Have you detected them all, could another submarine be out there listening for you? Has the hunter become the hunted? Will you survive the Cold Waters?

Inspired by the 1988 classic “Red Storm Rising”, command a nuclear submarine in a desperate attempt to prevent “mutually assured destruction” when the Cold War gets hot and WWIII begins.

You will be tasked with intercepting convoys, amphibious landings, insertion missions and battling it out with enemy warships, submarines and aircraft. Thankfully, an arsenal of wire-guided torpedoes, anti-ship and cruise missiles and the occasional SEAL team are on board to keep the Iron Curtain at bay.

      Major Features:
      - Real-time naval combat
      - Over 40 classes of ships and submarines all meticulously researched
      - Dynamic Campaign where your performance matters (3 Time Periods: 1968, 1984, 2000+)
      - Realistic sonar model
      - Authentic Soviet combat tactics

      Here's a quick demo I made on a 688 FLT 2 Torp/VLS use and Dive plane control:
"Cold Waters" 688 (FLT 2)Weapons and Dive plane control Demo

More "Arcade" like than Sonalyst 688I or Sub Command (when in 3D View), but as a Cold War Quartermaster who actually performed GeoPlot/TMA in the Fire Control Team, it's fairly realistic in 2D mode.

NOTHING like hearing "WEAPON HAS ACQUIRED!" then "Lost contact Sierra 4, contact is breaking up"

      Available on STEAM

I installed the playable subs mod, but you get it here now and NOT Subsim (they removed it):

      CaptainX3/CW-Playable-Subs

I can even play as RED OCTOBER Typhoon variant with "Caterpillar" drive!

I recently took an ALFA for a spin and easy-peasy sank a SKIPJACK!
Nothing like dodging fish at 40+ knots in 3D, wish our RC boats could do this!

        ....one last comment.

In the above list, they do have some "imaginary" boats, like the "ALFA II" based on a supposition the Soviet Union took what they had and improved on her. STINGRAY or NARWHAL II Classes for the US as well. Het why not? mAybe I can convince the "modder" to do a SEAVIEW.

For the most part, the various skins are pretty cool, I'll let ya'all be the judge regarding accuracy, especially below the waterline. Others in the mod you can see were based on an existing "skin".

Overall, maneuvering in 3D is pretty awesome. Especially among the 'bergs.

or a Nautilus from 20K under the Sea!
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

            Thought about that too.....

Very limited Passive sonar, but tough as hell considering she ram's things. High Sound signature though, especially at bell.

            Speed 50kt+

I think SEAVIEW would have SEAWOLF level Sonar Suite, 688I Weaps load, Speed/Diving Depth comparable to the ALFA II I played. Sound signature comparable to a Ben Franklin Class as she does have a lot of "wetted" area".

            Others?
