    Mine...All Mine...bwaaahahaha

Playing with a new 3D printer (FormLabs Form 3). Wanting to see if the material (generic Grey) would work for torpedo or....Aquarium decorations.

I saw a couple of mines on Thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2527166 and https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2612454)

The first one I liked, but wanted to make a floating one to possibly go in an aquarium with a Type VII. So, I created one in Fusion 360

I broke a couple of ends off removing the sprues. Next is testing in water and seeing how it handles being wet. I have been told that Krylon Fusion for plastic is safe in an aquarium. I will test that as well.

Does anyone have external plans for a mine and sizes?

I have seen pictures of small mines to very large mines.

If someone has info on German and American mines and sizes, I would love that information.
If you are interested in the mine I made, let me know here.
    Peace,
    Tom
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

      Tom,

That's wicked! Those would be the perfect addition to your diorama. Would be interesting to try a Fusion 360 model of a mine that just exploded.

Can you provide a quick review of the FormLabs 3 SLA printer? This model seems to have gotten the cost of SLA printing down to a somewhat reasonable level of cost.

Tom - FYI, I have the optional resin mine set that goes with the 1/35 Schnellboot from Italeri. It’s been a while since I looked at the directions for them. Let me see what detail they have.

Jeff, I can do that! Let me gather photos and I will post (or write an article) on it.

Sam, any help will be great.

              The newest revision. Thoughts?

                  Seriously very cool!

I assume that they float...so they can be tethered to the 'sea' floor?

Jeff, Yes, I will have a line or chain (not sure which yet) connected to an anchor (also not sure yet).

Here is the latest. I went with a slightly out of scale pins on the outside. the larger size just looks better, I guess I am doing a Hollywood make over. I printed this on the finer resolution.

                    I am pleased with it.
But, now I just might make a Type XXIII in the tank instead.... 1/35th scale.

75 gallon, but we are thinking of getting a 125 gallon tank.

                          Tom,

Might you be placing your mine .STL files up on something like Shapeways so those of us who don't have 3D printers can create our own minefields?

                          -tnx,

OR maybe on Thingverse so others can try to print them to their specs.
