    Nicest Looking Submarine

What is your guyses' favorite submarine, in terms of looks? My favorite is the James Madison class SSBN.

For me, it's the WWII boats. Type VII, Type XXI and the Gato/Balao.

This was asked on another forum and I had a tough time listing my favorite boats. So, like Sam, I like the WWII subs.
        1. Gato/Balao hands down
        2. Sci-Fi subs - Nautilus, Proteus, Seaview, Spindrift - Just the geek in me or watching them growing up, but each one has a story in my life (Spindrift is not a submarine, but I made it one as a kid).
        3. Typhoon
        4. WWII subs - Type VII, Type XXIII, Type IX, Japanese Subs ( not enough out there) just a balance of old and new technologies
        5. then it gets into a blur and the names get added as I build subs. Walrus runs like a dream, Skipjack is one amazing performance, British submarines like Erich mentions, Russian subs, and research vehicles are on my like, just so many.

Rivets and all the do-hinkies sticking out on the older subs add so much character, to me. However it is a love hate thing because I am a klutz and tend to break things off.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Wow hard to pick one so I'll do what everybody else did and go top 3-ish.
Since I was a kid the three boats that defined the word "submarine" to me were the:

Fleet Snorkel conversions (step sail with a still pointy bullnose)
          Skipjack Class
          Seaview
