RCSubGuy's Weekend Trip to the ER

Some lower abdominal discomfort turned into an event-filled Thursday night when my doctor called and told me to get to the emergency room.

It turns out the pain was from a badly distended appendix and there was a very real danger of rupture. Normally it's a pretty routine procedure that takes around 45 minutes via laparoscopy (a super-thin tool with fiber-optic cameras).*The surgeon got in there and ended up having to do a full open surgery due to the size and shape of the offending organ, which had swollen to 2.5x its normal size.

We got home yesterday afternoon and I'm looking forward to some downtime to get healed up. Renee is doing such an amazing job of looking after me. I'm feeling pretty spoiled. Hopefully back on my feet soon!

Obviously, this will affect my ability to address orders. My apologies to everyone with an order outstanding with me. I should be back on my feet soon, and with Logan's help, we should be able to get caught up by the end of the week.*

Heal and recover first! Glad it went well. I can certainly wait!
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

get well quickly. I bet you're glad this occurred in the states and not while you were out of country!

So, some continuing drama. It turns out that there is a high degree of possibility that my appendix was cancerous. Dr. appointment today to discuss removing part of my colon and small intestine, just to be sure we got it.

Obviously, this is a big shock to my family and to me. Unsure of short-term ramifications to projects and orders. Patience is appreciated as we get this all figured out.

            Thanks, all...

              Bob,
I am sorry you are going through this! The added fear and uncertainty having the word cancer thrown into the recovery is not fun, but you are a fighter and will beat it if it is.
              Peace,
              Tom

                    Bob,
I am sorry to hear of your "adventure". The last two years I have been recovering from my colon bursting, which set me back a bit. If it is any consolation, you should bounce back from the surgery. Just do as they tell you and DO NOT PUSH IT!!!!!!!!!

Bob, you got this. You let then take whatever they need to to make sure it's gone!

I went in with urinary troubles, and ended up losing a kidney to cancer. I know what that feeling of shock is like. Right now your world is probably upside down. Just follow the doctor's lead and let them take care of you.

                            In my thoughts, good sir.
