    How are Sub Regatta's initially funded?

    Hi,

    I was wondering how the Sub regattas are funded.

    For instance the indoor pool meeting that I wish to organise will likely cost about £60-70 minimum for the hire of the facilities. If the required number of folk don't turn up, that would put me out of pocket by £x amount.

    Are there funds available within the Sub Committee for events like this, or is it up to the organiser to take the financial risk?

          With the growth in Local Chapters, some of them quite active, I would expect/hope to see changes in the future.

          Jeff,

          What kind of changes are you hoping to see? Local chapters supporting the SubRegatta or vice versa..? As far as our SubRon5 fun runs, we've assumed it was up to us financially.

            [color=#000000]Hi Paul,

            I believe that Local Chapters need to be provided a direct voice into the 'running' of the SubCommittee. To what extent, and how quickly this can be done is an open question. This should be done through a dialogue between the LCs and the EC. (as opposed to, let's say, the EC simply handing out some 'edict') In my view this also includes a discussion on how to best utilize the assets of the SubCommittee to further not only the hobby (r/c, static, history, etc.) but in particular the organization as a whole. [color=#000000]Jeff,

              I do think that by working closely with the local chapters across NA and around the world, the EC will have better luck in recruiting talent for specific tasks. The guys in the SubRons know best what their members are capable of.

              That being said, leadership is influencing people and "edicts" have to come from somewhere to keep the group on track ]
