Oto's 3D printed kits are pretty good. I've held his Kilo kit in my hands. I also did a review on my YouTube channel you can view here.

What we're after is not so much offering completed parts, but the option for people to print their own. Many people have their own printers now, and if not, have access to them via services such as 3DHub. I suppose offering the option of printed parts is viable, but that wouldn't be the original intent of giving people the option for doing things on their own.

Scanning a model and offering the files is off the table. Period. We can come up with a non-scale sub, designed for performance and ease of assembly on our own without having to plagiarize someone else's hard work.

Bob, I can certainly agree with your statement about not plagiarizing someone else's work. I guess I was thinking for my own designs / benefit since I would have no idea where to start when CAD modelling the complex contours of a sub hull. I guess I see it as BUILDING on someone else's work not plagiarizing so long as I am not selling what I create. After all I would be buying their kit product in order to use as a reference. I can certainly understand where it would be unethical to copy a model kit for profit.
