I'm speechless. He only emailed me yesterday to ask about Evercoat in his usual silly way. God I loved that man and all he did for me and the wonderful things we worked on together. My big Type 7 wouldn't be the diver it is without him. He designed the system. Ironically I was working on my Seaview WTC last night and thinking of the great times I have had with the model and his cylinder which to this day has never leaked a drop and still works flawlessly.

I just found out about this. Rest well Bigdave. Second star to the right and straight on till morning.

Like so many others, I am speechless. Dave's presence was always felt, and his absence will always be noticed. I can only hope that he is somewhere that the water is clear and warm and that his batteries never run down.
      RIP Dave

I thought I would share this. BD and I would text or e mail each other several times a day. Friday night he sent this picture with the caption"
        Snoopy thinks he's Joe Cool!
I'm the real Joe Cool! "
He was absolutely right. This hobby won't be the same without him.

Wow, what a shock. My condolences to his family. Carmel won't be the same without him.

What can I say that hasn't already been said. Dave was one of the first to welcome me to this great hobby and he always answered all my questions (no mater how dumb) The fun runs will never be the same again.

When I got into this hobby Dave was one of the first people I met an he was someone I have always enjoyed talking to. He was always helpful and fun to talk to. I was so glad that I got to see him at the run in Carmel this last summer since I have not been in a few years.

i am a better modeler for working with him.

I am a better person for knowing him.

                      I am very sad now.

We in SubRon8 will miss him dearly. All the emails and "busting chops" with strange and funny images. I composed a photo shop image back in 2008 as a sign of appreciation and one of our members said I should share it. I think it's appropriate and probably what he is doing right now. RIP BD.

Big Dave had a constant presence on this site, as long as I can remember. I never had an opportunity to meet him (nor almost anyone else on here), but always enjoyed reading his colorful posts on the forum.

He had exceptional engineering skills and would come up with interesting and unusual designs. It is unsettling to read, possibly his last post on here, regarding his new project, the obscure little Mark 6 Minisub.. He said, “More to come. BD”, but there won’t be any more.. He will be missed..

His passing reminds us, that we never know when our time will be up. Dave, your departure has helped to motivate me to work on one of my XXIII boats. I’ve cleared out space in my garage, and have a new Husky work table being delivered to the house tomorrow morning. If I’m going to perform hull surgery, I need to have a decent table to operate on!
