Sad news today abut Big Dave

    Folks,

I am very sorry to report that Big Dave has passed away early this morning.

His family, friends, and our community have lost a skilled modeler, good friend, and all around great guy. I'm beyond words that could express that loss.

    Rest easy, my friend.

What a loss. Truly one of the greats of our hobby -- a great modeler, and a great friend to all. May he rest in peace.
          Warm regards,

Like the rest of you, I'm utterly stunned. What a great friend he's been to me -- and to all of us. I shall miss him terribly, and will no doubt keep watching for those frequent funny texts which will now no longer come.

What a shame for his family and our whole community.

As the SubVets say (more and more frequently these days), Sailor, Rest Your Oar...

Words cannot express my sadness at hearing this news. BD was and will remain the example of what makes this community special. We will all miss his presence.

There isn't a cloud in the sky today, but the R/C sub world is a little darker today.

i have no words, four times I have tried to write something, but nothing expresses my deep sorrow hearing of Dave passing. He is one of the greats and it will be hard to believe he is gone. His presence here will be missed and leave a huge vacuum on this forum. May the peace beyond all understanding surround the family and friends of those grieving.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

I am saddened by the news, even long distance, he was VERY friendly and would help out in any way he could. He was always available to help someone with advice. He was also easy to approach in person at sub runs and would talk to you like an equal. Very VERY nice / friendly person.

My sympathy to his family. RIP Sir.

                      George

holy shit. I'm stunned. I didn't know him, except through this forum, but he was a wealth of knowledge and a hell of a builder.
my condolences to his family, and what a loss for this community as well.

I just returned from our SubRon 4 monthly meeting. This is truly terrible news! We always enjoyed BD's company, correspondence, and his wonderful sense of humor. Many, many good words can be used to describe him, but perhaps the worst is; missed! Sailor, rest your oar.

                          David's friends in SubRon 4.
