    Ohio or Virginia Class Plans

Hello everyone! This is my first post, and let me say that so far, being here has helped tremendously on bolstering my confidence that there ARE people out there who can help me when I screw up, or need advice.

This seems like a really helpful community, and I am glad to be a part of it.

Now, on to my dilemma. I am trying to build an Ohio Class, and a Virginia Class submarine, but I am having the hardest time finding accurate pictures/plans of them. I did find a place with 3D auto-cad drawings of the Ohio, but they want $200 USD, and that's just a little ridiculous.

I still have yet to find any good pictures/plans of the Virginia class, and this is the one I want to build the most.

If anyone has them or knows where I can get them without paying triple digits, your help would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Thanks in advance, guys.

    You may want to poke

You may want to poke through the newsgroup archives a little.

Steve Reichmuth has found an awesome picture, check out his post titled "Roll out of new Virginia SSN-774 at EB." link

With respect to plans, I am not aware of any but I know Matt Thor has been working on both of these hulls as time permits him.

    Cheers

      G'day,

      I have an Ohio class

      G'day,

I have an Ohio class myself and I spent eternity trying to find detailed drawings of the Ohio class on the internet. A year later I am still no closer. Not even anything close.

I find it amazing that I can find good three view drawings of allmost any Russian boat that I want but not American.

(I'm sure that I could if I tried , find pictures of our navy's Collins Class Boats) I had to do my own sketches purely off photo's and do some "guestimation!"

      regards

        Same here.

        I ordered a set

        Same here.

I ordered a set of drawings from the Drydock and they were horrible. They looked like my 3 year old daughter drew them.

The drawing did not even have a top down view of the sail !!!

That is pretty bad. I have gotten more info from a pictures on the net rather than any actual drawings.

The best thing to do is to find a set of 32nd parallel's old 1/96 scale drawings. I am still looking for a set.

          You said that you can

          David-
You said that you can find good three view drawings of almost any Russian submarine- where?! I love Russian boats, but I can never seem to find any drawings.

            G'day Jonathan,

            where do I start.

            G'day Jonathan,

where do I start. There are several sites on Russian submarines. Some are mainly photo's and one has very good 3 view drawings of allmost every russian post war boat, even rare stuff like the project "1710 Beluga." as well as some boats that were never realised.

the site www.submarine.id.ru has tons of pictures. The one that has immense technical detail and very good three view drawings of a lot of boats is called

Being a russian site it's all in said language. However what I have done is to look up some online web translators on yahoo
once you get to a translator type in the website and conversion Russian to english details and it should translate. the Translations are not that great. but certainly enough to get around and get the three views your after,

There are particulary good details on the Victor boats.
With the wealth of imfo out there i'm still amazed that people still persist in sticking to Akulas, typhoons and Alphas,

Love to see some deltas, whiskeys ,foxtrots and and victors out there to keep my Chinese Xia 092 company!

            tell me how you go!

            regards,

              Ample images currently of USS

Ample images currently of USS Virginia SSN-774.

You want the info, do the time. Teaching you how to farm will sustain you more than just giving you the chow.

              Go to]http://www.navy.mil/[/url]

Upper left, click on 'US Navy today', as this link spills down, click on 'current photos'.

Do a image search, click 'any', then type in 'SSN'. You will get well over several pages with about a dozen excellent images of Virginia both out of the water and in the water taken at EB.

                  Yea. amazing link. Thanks for

Yea. amazing link. Thanks for the info, I had no idea that the Navy had their own website.

And imagine, 24 pages of photos and not one of the Virginia Class submarine. Especially not of the Virginia Class in the water, since one hasn't even been commissioned yet.

Finding good pictures ont he Navy website is like finding a hymen in Brittany Spears private parts. Impossible.

You get better photos with Google Images, but, like I said, i have already SEARCHED for pictures, and have not found any that are really helpful. Thanks for the farming lesson, though.

Interpol....Is this a delayed April fools joke? I was on the site today and I saw more than 4 pictures of the boat. You better take the course over again.

                        ....okay, you piqued my curiosity!

I followed Steve's directions and the search results did turn up photos of the USS Virginia....but they are about a year old. This ends up being quite a few pages into the search.

An 'exact' search on 'SSN 774' yielded the photos right away.
