Spark fun has a new updated board out.....is this the future of or hobby?

WOW ! Spark fun just knocked one out of the park with this new board. It's bigger than many of the pitch controllers on the market.....but dirt cheap. -
With a dirt cheap chinese arduino @ $4-$8, plus this @ $15, that makes for a sub $25 pitch controller (pun intended?).... if i can work out the code needed to make it effective.... but there are several PID controller examples out there that would work for this.
http://pololu.com also has these two items, which combined are more expensive, but might work equally as well.
and the youtube video that got me thinking this could work, from a similar site to pololu and sparkfun, called adafruit.com :
