What type of glue do you use to secure the blue foam inside of the fiberglass hulls. I am working on a converted Seawolf class sub the will be the Jimmy Carter.
Secure the foam using thin beads of RTV and it's pretty easy to pop them free if you need to change/tweak them down the road. The RTV will usually release from the foam and stay stuck to your hull, and can then be cleaned away with a popsicle stick.
If you completely cover the foam block's surface with RTV the installation will be much more secure.
One more piece of advice on this - don't mistake "Goop" for RTV. The solvents in Goop will quickly dissolve the foam leaving you with an ugly mess on your hands!
You can also use epoxy if you don't care if it as to be easily removed.
It will not effect the foam. Just don't use 5 minute type. Although the amount of time actually spent in the water is small.
I have even used foam safe CA on small sections.
It would be cost prohibitive on large section.
But RTV is your best option in my book. BD
