    GRP Molding

    Hi All,

I was looking at John Vanderheiden site to see how he had constructed his very nice 1/72 Typhoon using the lost foam method. For me the world of fiberglassing is a nearly magic thing, but to me the lost foam method seems more difficult and less accurate than the negative mold system.
I'd like to hear from the experts what are the advantages and disadvantages of the two methods, just because I'm very interested in fiberglassing. (There are light years between me and the fiberglassing world, but composites are really fascinating!)

    hi Adriatic,
    The only thing

    hi Adriatic,
The only thing magical about fiberglassing is the amount of "un-real mess" it can make. The foam method is accurate, as accurate as anything else. Its up to the builder for accuracy. Just jump in and get started. The more you do the more you learn. Just ask if you need help, we can point you in the right direction. Remember, plans are everything!! Jeff J. SC#258

      Hi Jeff,

      thanks for your kind

      Hi Jeff,

thanks for your kind reply!! After finishing my very first RC project, a 1/96 Permit from ThorDesign, I'll get more involved with fiberglassing, and I'll for sure contact you when in need!
But for now, let's focus on my first boat, I want it in the water!
