Matt, the PNW doesn't exist, we got nearly 3 inches of ice in one night and it was barely mentioned outside of KPTV. Regardless though, I was in Schenectady during the "perfect storm" and we've only ever come close to that along the Oregon Coast and in the valley. Just do what NOAA and the NWS say. For up to date advisories and forecasts, http://www.noaa.gov. I don't like to think about what would've happened if it wasn't for them when the typhoon hit in 2007. Be safe and be smart.Originally posted by thor View PostYou guys back East get 24" of snow and it headlines every news station in America. We get 5' and no one even notices....
Regardless, you boys stay safe & warm!

You know the weather guys.
The worse the storm is the more excited they get.
We have a weatherman on one of our stations that gets the heebe jeebes and looks he is going to pee his pants with excitement when he has bad weather forecasts.
The reason this one got all the hype is most of the localities hit had no way to handle 1" let alone 30".
And it impacted one out of every four people in the country.
I hope all made it through OK and get dug out soon. BDsigpic"Eat your pudding Mr Land"

We did okay. Though I did have to 'have words' with the power equipment company that did the service on our snowblower.....it stopped working after 15 minutes of use. Not something I needed to deal with given all that snow and a very long driveway.

we had about 14 inches of snow, which is enough to shut this city down. biggest issue was the sleet that came between the snow falls. this was "heart attack" snow; it was so friggin heavy. the new house we are in has a side entry garage, so the area that needs to be shoveled is quite a bit larger.
the last two days there's been a lot of melting. so things are definitely better today.
I haven't had a snowblower since I left Buffalo. I don't intend on ever owning one again. lol
