    Model Sub Christmas?

Anybody get anything cool and submarine related under the tree this year? I got to open my Moebius FS-1 finally. A wonderful kit. More to come on that.
    Warm regards,

We were on pretty good terms this year.

Tim, tell us more about the tower. I love it when epoxy comes together.
        Warm regards,

            I got a nifty boardgame ...

            Description from the publisher:

Submarines and surface fleets battle for dominance of the seas! One team must use submarines to sneak troops into enemy ports and destroy vital strategic targets, while the other team deploys a surface fleet to hunt down the subs and protect their crucial supply lines.

Designed by retired Royal Navy Officer and submarine commander Andrew Benford, and developed deep beneath the waves, They Come Unseen is an asymmetrical strategy game of bluffing and deception that uses two boards: one for action on the surface, seen by both players, and one for movement underwater, seen only by the submarine commanders. The game also comes with specially designed control panels to aid each player in tracking vital information such as fuel, ammunition and current cruising depth.

Haven't played it yet but it looks somewhat more complex than Battleship or Risk, but nothing like say, SquadLeader, as far as military boardgames go.

Sounds like it could be a happy medium. SquadLeader was very complex and far too time consuming. Please let us know what your thoughts are after playing it. What I'd like to know is whether the game could be played as a play-by-mail....

I got razors and rediscovered my extensive needle file set. I started my 2nd 1/144 Romeo kit with a North Star PE set. I'm really dragging on the Oscar. At this rate I might be testing it at the run in Washington.

You would think with me being daily on the computer looking at submarines people would get the hint. I did get something with 4 propellers though.
I have a plan for this year, I will speak up and say I want one of those and these as I point to submarines. Happy new year!

I guess I did get a present, be it late. Revell 1/72 Gato and etching kits. No idea when or if I'll be starting that one.

still needs some cleaning up, as well as the tops of the saddle-tanks, but quite happy so far.

Tom K's game looks and sounds very much like the old Avalon Hill stuff. You guys remember—or still have—those old board games? I've got "U-Boat" and "Midway" still in my inventory. Midway was a classic; very realistic, and played in real time. I can remember devoting whole weekends to it as a kid. Just like the real battle. Trouble was, once you knew the tricks, the Japanese would win every time!

I played Avalon Hill's "Richthofen's War" and "Wooden Ships, Iron Men" A very 70's Christmas gift.
