Hi All,
Just finished watching Ray Mason's 2002-2003 SubRegatta Video acquired at the 2004 WRAM show in New York.
For those of you who have purchased Ray's excellent videos in the past, you already know the quality put into his work.
This latest "Video Report" is his second attempt using DVD format for us. It is now "authored" using menus to access portions that you wish to view. A definite plus for us this time out.
As always, Ray uses a theme to provide atmosphere to the video. I’ll let you guess for yourself what it is. Also, look for many humorous shot’s of RC Modelers in their native habitat as set to music!
This time out he places more of an emphasis on the "interviews" section, as opposed to “running footageâ€. The interviews go in depth with the modeler on particular features of the owner’s boat. Especially nice is the interview with Dave Merriman on his six-gun shooter torpedo system. Which I seem to see a lot of interest here at the message board.
Two nice featurettes are included. Video from the “Juliet 484â€, aka “K19â€, the sub used in the movie. The video was taken when we visited this boat, which is currently berthed in Collier Point Park in Providence, Rhode Island. http://www.juliett484.org/juliett/ The other feature is an excellent piece of American education/training video circa late WWII concerning “Sneak Craftâ€, (mini subs) of the German and Italian Navy. Which is great for you folks out there modeling the more esoteric boat of the AXIS (sans Japan) powers.
Again for those of you who readily collect Ray’s Video Reports, this is a must have. For those of you who have not yet seen Ray’s work, this is a great way to start.
I spoke with Ray and am quite excited with what he has in store for the future. Personally I plan to donate my older videos to the local library in hope of generating more interest for our fellowship.
You can get this Video, and any other past Video’s by contacting Ray Mason:
