        Hi Novagator,

        great pictures, and great

        Hi Novagator,

great pictures, and great subs!! I saw these pics some time ago on a german submarine modelers site some time ago...the subs that you see in the photo are virtually identical each to another, and they're called "U1's".
The technology inside these beasts is wonderful, but Sam's right about getting into an aeroport check-in with these things...the security officers will have at least a ton of doubts!!

          These are a germans automatic

These are a germans automatic submarines.
5 sub model that are completly automatic, with an magnetic autopilot, They can follow a "leader", change formation...etc

The radio is not a proportionnal one but just only few 3 pos. switches. Crazy and soooo clever !!!

          Ive never seen that before...

              and all electronics are relay

and all electronics are relay based or plain old analog stuff.
(and work flawlessly). No chip to be seen. not reliable
              enough, he says.
Those electronics contain (among others) active depth
control, meaning the boat regulates it's own trim cell
to maintain correct depth. The trim cell is the white round
thing seen in the middle (CG/CB actually). He has built (and
published) an analog two-loop feedback control unit for this.
His transmitter and receiver units are self made.

These are the most sophisticated scratch built boats
around. (You try synchronised swimming with your subs).

when taking a break from playing, this man sinks off his
boats, instead of getting them out. And i am talking about
muddy lakes here, not pools. They are *reliable*.

Btw, these boats use the dry hull principle

                I figured they were dry

I figured they were dry hull...looks like both halves of the outer hull are bayonet mounted to that central circular fitting.
