    Propel - Some advice please?

    Simple question....

Working on my first sub, I am not sure what sort of propel to use. I have seen a lot of pretty expensive Badger propel... is there another brand?

      Or you can try Super

Or you can try Super Duster refills - It is less expensive ($5.15 / 10 oz can if you buy ten at a time) than Propel and it has fewer nasty components.

I have had the best luck with Circuit Specialist in Arizona.
      Circuit Specialists Inc.
220 South Country Club Drive #2
      Mesa, AZ 85210
      Phone]jr@cir.com[/email]

These are the folks that Mike Dory referred me to. I once tried to buy a case from an outfit in New Jersey and it was a nightmare!

Also make SURE you order the refills, not the ones that come equipped with plastic triggers. Those won't work.

The correct item will say "For use with M.G. Chemicals Cat# 402-T Chrome Plated Trigger Valve". THAT is the one to get. You can just click on the link below and go right to the correct page on their ecommerce site.

PS - one more thing - be sure to order early. They don't have a huge stock of this stuff so don't wait a week before a regatta and expect to order a case ($5.15 per can in case lots vs $5.50 ea per single unit) to order!

        If you're going to use

If you're going to use Propel - DO NOT get the Testor's brand. They add some chemical to keep kids from huffing it. The chemical will discolor the Lexan tubes used by most WTC's.

              Try R-134a ozone friendly refrigerant.

Try R-134a ozone friendly refrigerant. It is used to recharge auto air conditioners. It is like propel and is liquid at room temp at about 70 psi. Release it to atmosphere and, like propel, it turns to a non-flamable, safe gas. You can get it for about $5 for a 14 oz can at any auto parts store. Do not get the "oil added" recharge kit though. The recharge kit has a tapper valve, hose and fittings.
