The ATC2K may have become the camera of choice for underwater action, but the picture quality isn't upto the standard of a more conventional digital camera.
Panasonic have an interesting model- the SDR-SW20EB-R- which has recently caught my eye. It's much more expensive than the ATC2K, but records to an SD card using MPEG 2 compression (same as DVD) with a higher definition. More here-
