Question on Revell 1/72 Type VII

Hello!

My name is Thomas Voigt from Germany.

I do already build model kits for many years now (esp. 1/48 jets and 1/35 tanks), but I´m new to submarine modeling. Revell forced me to buy their new 1/72 U- Boat Type VII C .

I what to display all the flood doors(or whatever they are called) open. I plan to sand them open from the inside, as the plastic is not that thick.

There is one question that I have.

Above the saddle tanks(?) there is one large recessed line. Does it also belong to the flooding system that needs to be opened, or is it just a recessed detail on the hull?

It was

It was an open gap on the real boats.
but be careful, if you open this one, the
hull as a whole becomes more flexible (less rigid)
Also, a bit deeper inside this gap there were
panels visible. some photo's show them, most do not
because they fall totally in the shadow of the hull.
