    MIR deep submergence veichles

    Hi all,

after reading the excellent book "The Silent War" by Jhon P.Craven and seeing a documentary about the sinking of the Bismarck, I decided to search for some infos about the russian Mir 1 and Mir 2 research submarines. I know very little about these subs, and every information (web sites, books, even plans!) is welcome...Jhon Craven says that these subs "are said to be the most advanced deep submergence veichles" and they'd be a beautiful and innovative subject for a RC model!

    If you can find one,

If you can find one, get the book 'Titanic - in a New Light'.
by Dr. Joseph MacInnis. Companion book to the IMAX film.

This picture book has many good and detailed images of the two russian 'Mirs' (meaning 'peace'), and their mother surface vessel 'Akademik Keldysh'. The same vessels seen in the beginning to the feature film 'Titanic'. No plans but some great photos. Book is really more about images and study of the Titanic wreck site (rate of decay, anaylsis of the Tatinic's steel hull etc.).

'Titanic - in a New Light'.
by Dr. Joseph MacInnis. Companion book to the IMAX film.
    Published by Thomasson-Grant, INc. 1992
    ISBN 1-56566-021-8 (pbk.)

    Publishers Inquires address,
    Thomasson-Grant, Inc.
One Morton Drive, Suite 500, Charlottesville, VA 22903-6806
    (804) 977-1780

Also do a search of the Mir's (Mir 1 and Mir 2). If you type it in right, the search engine should separate the 'submarine' stuff from the 'space station' stuff.

      Hi Steve!

Thanks for the infos! I'll try to get the book also if I think that's difficult to order it here in Italy. I'll immediately do a search on the Mirs!

        Try to get the book

Try to get the book first, but can scan and send some of the pertinent ones to you if needed as long as I do not damage the spine of the book.
