    Sushi RIP! 2005-2012

It was the most spectacular model submarine run ever!!
An out of control racing sub going almost full speed and bouncing off pool walls like a ping pong ball.
I hope someone got a little video.
If I did not have over $1000 invested into the boat it would have been a hoot from my standpoint.
    More news and photos later.
I need to go tear down what is left and see what this cost me.
    Heed my advice!!
Make sure the fail safe on your motor channel is working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!! BD.(Big Dummy)

    Re: Sushi RIP! 2005-2012

I found the motor mount/firewall broke free from the first impact.
Since it is a bayonet ring the water came flooding in.
I have one servo one high power BEC and one very expensive ESC so far that are trashed.
Not including the damage to the hull.
The hull damage is mostly cosmetic so far. BD.

All I can say is that sushi was just an underwater yellow blur.Did you call your shot "8 ball side pocket I have never seen a sub move that fast before. I think we need a bigger pool.I hope she will live to run again. Greg

BTW-In the one photo you can see Greg's old balloon busting boat (After U) which he mounted a video camera in what looks like a gun mount on the bow.
He can rotate the mount and change the elevation from the radio.
Then drive the boat seeing what a driver would see. Very cool!! BD.

Ahhh... I recognize the new pumpjet on that Sushi. Apparently it worked very well—almost too well?

                  You do great work Pete!
I got the old PJ from Don.
I was amazed how much thrust it put out.
And the cool factor is well, COOL!!
The 700BB turbo running at 14.8V helps too. BD.

On that little hull I'd say you were lucky Sushi didn't disintegrate on impact with the thrust pumpjets put out.

When I tested my latest iteration in the bath tub, the new one I sent Don, in water only six inches deep it pushed a wake of water up the end of the tub about a foot up the wall, and then held it there at the top edge of the tub constantly! They are truly amazing.

Hope you can rehab Sushi. I'd like to see it run in person at Carmel.

                      Tough little boat.

If you need a new ESC, I can't recommend these highly enough. A true 25A continuous at up to 26 volts, small footprint and the price is great. Built in programmable failsafe, with up to 2 second cut-in specially designed for submarines to prevent unwanted glitching.

I actually have one of them Andy.
                        Mike's products are great.
The only thing is the ESC I had was a 160AMP unit and I would fry Mike's I fear.
I am getting it repaired now. The sub and tech rack are built around the ESC so I would like to stick with the MCD.
It is water cooled as well which is needed in the small sub volume.
BTW-It is a tough boat. Not a crack in the hull after many impacts.
But the G force cracked the motor firewall away from it's epoxy.
But I was able to fix it. Not easy with the ring installed as it made removal of the motor firewall impossible. BD.

They're thermally protected against overload, so you shouldn't have a problem.

Even if it survived the current it would keep shutting off when it exceeded the limit of the ESC.
Which would be pretty much all the time. BD.

There are three 700BB turbo models in the Graupner range. Not sure which one you have, but I wouldn't expect anyone of them to push the controller to thermal shutdown unless the motor is badly matched to the prop and seriously bogging down as a result.
