    Sun N Fun 2010 Images

Okay, here are some shots from the weekend. I'll try to post more as they come in. My camera was not in attendance so I'm relying on others to contribute.
The following shots were submitted by Jeff Porteous.

Early Saturday trimming sessions at the test tank.

Don Baker checks out the WTC in his Seehund.

Thresher on her first sortie. She would head to the bottom shortly thereafter. Recovery was quick.

Lee Giles discusses his British S-class project. He has beautifully detailed this Darnell hull.

With new battery in place, Tom's Scorpion heads out.

Jeff's Blueback performed flawlessly all weekend. Here he heads out during Saturday night's run.

    Sunday morning operations.

We had several new local members show up this weekend including Jackson Chu, Chad Divine, Fitz Walker, and long time SC member Andy Hunt who is now living near Houston. Looks like time to start a Houston based sub-group of SR5.
    Warm regards,

      Great pictures, Paul!

I had a great time and am looking forward to more gatherings. Having a Houston-based sub-group sounds like a great idea to me!

      Cheers!

Love that little RPMtech Seehund, such a cute little boat.

          Paul,
I've heard of model accuracy, but did you really have to send your Thresher to the bottom on its maiden voyage? Really. That's going a little too far.

            Pete,

The thought did cross my mind. Flooding in the motor space caused a loss of propulsion and so she sank to the bottom. I'm thinking of changing her to represent another boat.

            Andy,

Yes, the Bayou Boats are coming together!

              Other Andy,

Yes, the Seehund is very neat. Don was having a little trouble with water in the people tank as well. She was definitely down by the stern, or up by the bow depending on your point of view.

Don did a great job weathering the boat. And the number and iron cross really make it look unique. Don also had a great run with his Thor Sturgeon.

It really is a great venue. We have a lot of fun. You guys should join us next year.
              Warm regards,

Here are some additional images from Fitz Walker.

The first boat below is Fitz's 1/350 scale Japanese I-400. It came as a surface running kit with a small motor. Fitz installed an electronics suite for dynamic diving r/c operations. The boat really scooted and he got extended submerged runs. A really amazing little boat. Fitz reports there is a Type VII available as well.

                Jeff's stately Blueback.
