Sat April 18 fun run in York SPECIAL EVENT !!!

    Folks,

We have a great opportunity coming up in April to both help out the York YMCA and to promote the model ship / submarine hobby. The April fun run will NOT be held at the Shrewsbury YMCA, but will instead be held at the new Graham Aquatic Center in York. This new center is a part of the York YMCA, and is a brand new facility. They are hosting a "Healthy Kids Day" on Saturday, April 18 from 11:00 until 3:00. The aquatic director in Shrewsbury has asked if we would display and run boats there that day. We'll have the use of the 25 meter indoor pool.

I would appreciate if you all could check your schedules, and put this date on it. Note that it's a Saturday, and will take the place of our regularly scheduled Sunday meet in Shrewsbury.

Please consider coming if at all possible. Even if you don't actually run your boat / ship, it will provide wonderful exposure to the hobby in general and the local clubs for the community and the media. We all lament regularly how the hobby is shrinking, here's your chance to make a difference. Show up, and show off! Let me know if you're coming. I'll follow up soon with directions, etc.

    Thanks!

    Jim

ps. The regularly scheduled March meet for Sunday, March 8 will be at the Shrewsbury YMCA as usual.

        April Subrun

I gotta learn to read! I was reading and writing April, but thinking March. April 18 is indeed a Saturday, because it is the start of the Gulf Coast Small Craft Festival. Since I can't be in two places at once, I'll have to pass on the York event and settle for Cortez Florida instead.

              more info

The sat image hasn't been updated since they built the new facility (enclosed the pool and added the parking lot) but this should give you the basic idea.
