    Few Questions from a Newbie

    Hi All,

I'm just starting out and have a few questions regarding subs in Oz...

    - What frequency should I be after in the radio gear for my upcoming kit. I understand that 2.4Ghz is a no go, but what else is legal in Australia. Any suggestions on a good place to pick up this gear?

    - Are there any hobby shops around the place that bring in kits? I've spoken to a few, but no-one seems to know of any.

Anyway, thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing from you,

        Hi again all,

        Hi again all,

Just a quick follow up regarding radio gear. I'm looking at getting a 36/40MHz Tx / Rx. Are computer radios (PCM) a good idea for subs?

Any suggestions where is a good place to buy JR from here in Oz.

        Thanks again guys.

          Yes you can go computer

Yes you can go computer radio Angus, but get a computer radio that is PPM = FM NOT PCM

PCMs don't work too well with model boat ESCs that typically have a fail safe and don't work well either with fail safes linked to the blow / surface system servo either.

PCM was designed for flyers not boaters or submariners.

I use the Futaba 6 ch computer radio for Castle Hill Hobbies.

          Best
