Been battening down the hatches for Hurricane Ike which should hit us this evening. Wayne is sheltering in place to the south in Pearland. Should be an interesting night!

Our thoughts are with you
In my experience the best place to ride out a hurricane is 400 feet below the sea. Not an option I know...
Still, check in when you can after the all clear sounds.
Good Luck!

Would that I could, Tom!
Would that I could, Tom! And thanks for the kind words, Don!
So far, so good. I heard from Wayne. He says he's bored. If you don't have cable (we don't), all you get is local coverage of the storm 24 hours. And the's guys ran out of thoughts to express yesterday.
Just starting to get wind gusts where we are. Gonna roll family movie night at 2000.Warm regards,

Paul,
Just watched some AP web
Paul,
Just watched some AP web footage of Ike rolling through Houston last night. Looked very wet and very windy, but no flooding -- at least not where their camera was. Hope the movie was good and the popcorn tasty.
How are things looking today?

Lost power at 12:45 and
Lost power at 12:45 and still don't have it back. Using the neighbor's generator to catch up online.
Lots of wind, some damage to trees and neighbor's roofs. None to ours, though. In the word's of Bugs Bunny, "Clean livin' prevailed."
We're very thankful.Warm regards,

Paul,
Good to hear you made
Paul,
Good to hear you made out O.K. At least you shouldn't have to deal with the Gestapo, or as they're known today. The insurance agent. Do you know yet how Wayne or any other members made out?

I had power restored monday
I had power restored monday evening from going out friday night.
Need a new roof, fence, and some wall water damage inside the house.
But the submarines were safe the whole time
Looks like, on a guess, 10-15,000 in damages.

Man, oh man! We are
Man, oh man! We are still without power since 12:45 am Saturday. We've cooked everything in our fridge. Ice is pretty scarce.
Everyone behaving well. No craziness. Like a giant community campout in our back yards. A cold front came in so the temp is pleasant and the air is dry.
All will be well once we get the electricity back on. I'm writing this from a deli a few miles nw of the city.Warm regards,

Carl,
Thanks for checking on us.
Carl,
Thanks for checking on us. Haven't heard from Gail. Will try to get ahold of him next.
Looks like the Cavalla and Stewart down at Seawolf Park were pretty banged up from the storm.Warm regards,

Guys,
Even my sister in CINCINNATI is without power from the northward-moving remnants of your storm . . . though actually hers may have been restored by now. Sheesh! Anyway, glad you guys are holding your own!
Hang in there,
Jeff
