Just a few question for you fellows up north. How often are you allowed to go for a fun sail at the groton sub base. Also what are your other favored sailing grounds.
Ever select orders based on rc submarine groups?
Im serious
We only get to go onto Subase once a year, usually early September. The last 2 years the weather and water quality have been outstanding. Since North Lake is the only swimming hole for all paygrades to use, we are restricted to that one day.
All our other meetings in the sailing season will be at either Social Pond in Woonsocket, RI or Johnston War Memorial Park in Johnston, RI. Both are only about an hour from Groton. Social Pond rivals North Lake in quality and the facilties are top notch. Transportation shouldn't be a problem as there are 3 (all retired squids) of us near Groton and we can figure stuff out pretty well.
We would be tickled pink to have you join us!
Take care,
Bill
Kevin,
Cold weather months, 3 or 4 of us.
Warm weather 6 to 8, on rare occasions, 10. We're shutting down for DEC - MAR this winter, to start again the 3rd Saturday in MAR.
I hope you get what you want in orders, and that the duty is good for you.
Take care,
Bill
Oh I dont think your prepared for whats in store personally but, I am anxiuos to try and get into the engineroom of the nautilus.
I am reporting to NRMD.
HAve you guys ever thought about doing a group project like the sub ron 8 boys? You knwo they are making a group project Nautilus. You have the real thing.
Kevin I beg to differ. I spent 24 years working for E.B. and working real close with the Navy. I stopped being surprised a long time ago. I'll send you a P.M. on some other stuff.
