I've just had word

Hi All,
I've just had word from David Jacqes that all is ready for Sunday. Entry for the various competitions will be £1 and various "submarine goodies" will be available courtesy of BAE Systems.

Some veteran submariners will also be visiting the pond.

He also promises a nice warm clubhouse because there is some bad weather coming in (let's hope it stays off till Monday).

The weather was quite scary at times (Sunny in the afternoon) but despite this we had a very enjoyable day. Everyone got prizes and there were also some goodies (pens, key rings and posters from the forthcoming Astute class launch in June.)

I recognise one of the chaps who came down to the funrun last year, all the way from Blackpool!

The middle pic is a Patrick Henry though isn't it, not a Lafayette?

Thank you for the photo's they came over very well, the first picture of my Upholder is correct,the second one is Peter's George Washington,third one Bobs X-craft ok,lunch ok, Dave's A boats ( Astute all brass construction,Auriga 90/10 cu ni/wood construction) and last photo your Charlie with my Piranha in the back ground
Overall I think we had a good day considering the weather conditions, we will consider another event but we will have to fit in with other events, please publish any of this information we can only improve with more visitors.

Yeah thought that was a George Washington Class (nee Engle Patrick Henry). Steve Neill does a nice pocket sized version as well as a 1/96th scale boat.

If you guys let me know in good time for the next event, I'll make sure it gets published in the report.

BTW I forgot to mention that Bob the builder of the X Craft also helped build one of the full size ones in in the 1950's. Apparently he had a lively conversation with Bob Dimmack about the realism of the model!

I have every hope of being there David - as long as you can guarantee me no snow this time! I know that shouldn't really be a problem (even for Barrow) in early September - but who can tell with the way things have been recently. I will pass the date round the other EMBC submariners and let you know in advance how many subs we can muster.
