How do we change our name from "SubRonSW" to "Cactus Navy"? We've got members, and hold regular meetings, just like a real club. Can we have our own name? Please?
Tim asked us to come up with a name for our local chapter. So after the second meeting we had our name, though the change has yet to be indicated here. SubRonSW was a place holder till the official name.
I remember seeing posts etc with the Cactus Navy mentioned, but don't recall seeing an official request to change the name. I probably spaced it out (comes with old age and too many things on the plate.)
I'll run it by the EC. Do you have a logo for here and the SCR?
I am not too sure that it is your fault, I am not sure that we submitted an official request, I think that we just posted it in the meeting notes. It would have been an easy miss. As for a logo, we have a few ideas, but lack the ability to get a real nice logo. I can draw mechanical things, but when it comes to cartooning, it is not my strong point.

PS Tim, I to answer your question about the RX, I have one, but have yet to test it operationally. I have been trying to put out the fires of life.
Hi guys - I "talked" with the SC EC. What would you think of using "The Cactus Navy" as a subtitle, like the SubRon 8 - The Rochester Gang? That way you could still use the Cactus Navy, but we would keep the sub- related theme with the geographical reference like the rest of the local chapters.

Sounds good to me Tim and other guys out there! I see what Tim says about still maintaining a geographic title. TIM ... I finally got back in as you can see; thanks to you and Jeff.
Glad you are up and running, Ray. Now, let's find you a new photo for your avatar. With the new larger sizes, some of the old ones ported over from the old board are a little fuzzy.
I guess that is fine, though I thing that it would just be for the website. We here favor using the Cactus Navy. If we were to say the Cactus Navy, SubronSW, A Subcommittee club, might be overkill.
A detail-rich image of a sub surfacing through sand and rocks with cacti would look cool large - but the more I think about it, I don't know how to make it so you could tell what it was when it is only 3/4" wide and in black and white in the SCR. Look at the logos of the other SubRons/SubComs in the Sept Fox Schedule (p 5) to see what I mean.
We need to keep in mind that an effective logo for you needs to work large, small, in color or in black & white. All I can say is we need to keep trying to come up with something that will work for you both here and in the SCR with your new name.
