    Upholder Victoria Class

Has anyone heard if Johnathan Evans is still around with his HMCS Models. I believe he was working on a 1/72 Upholder hull.

      Steve,

Please keep us in the loop. Here are some early images of Johnathan's work on the Victoria class ...

Gotta like the new board ... saves me diskspace.

        Jonathan sent me the following,

Jonathan sent me the following, I'll keep in touch. the masters look awesome.

Technically I'm working on the Victoria master, but not till I get my
(hopefully last) evaluation at work, before retirement, done. I'm a
shop teacher in the day time, but I retire in 3 years, so unless I
PO the boss I should be free to just do my job - build stuff, not
        paper push!

Vic is coming along, though not at the original pace, I got side
lined to do a French la Fayette, then the River class, and now a 1/96
Halifax - nearly done (re build master). But Vic is nice and I want
her done as my Aussie Task Force 72 friends are on the list for them
too, and the 100th Anniversary in 2010 , my retirement year too.

Keep emailing me, I won't be offended, I need encouragement in the
grey season. Let me know of any events your group has , as I like to
run to Ottawa o research things occasionally.

The last information I got from Jonathan is that he hopes to have the 1/72 Vickie done by June 2007.

            Just a quick update from

Just a quick update from Johnathan on the Vickie.

            G'Day Steve,

Vickie is coming, though not the hull. I've done the masters for

the Fwd hydro planes - complete with fences,
Rudders (though not scribed for tiles),
            aft hydroplanes, and
the conn is ready to drill for mast,
the conn top is looking great, (with a hole to be re drilled back again! (misread of port and strd drawings, each misses something from the other.)

In August I'll be on a sub and hope to get shots in the conn.

I was up a lift bridge photographing HMCS Halifax the other day - some great pictures.

I've been very busy making hulls, 2nd latest a 1/72 River class frigate, and the latest a 1/96 Halifax, though molds are booked for some advance orders! But I need encouragement on Vickie as I really want her done, and hull making is taking me away from the sub. Dave Meriman's articles are a great mental help.

I will be in Ottawa in August, I'd love to hook up with you guys at some point, near water would be nice!

Thanks for keeping me on file, have a great regatta, sorry it's too close to end of school year (only 2 1/2 more and I'm free, or retired to ship building - yes finally)

            Take Care, Jonathan
