North London Sub Fun Run 2007 - Date proposal

    Hello,

As this years was successful, I have decided to run this event again.

Now I am proposing a date this year of July 1st 2007. A little later than on. The reason for this, is that many events clash in June, and I would rather not run the event on Fathers day, like I did this year.

    Opinions please.

Glad this is happening again. I will try to get there if possible.

Did you go to Tadley? Any feedback on the fish?

          Just to let everyone know

Just to let everyone know that I haven't forgotten about this.

Basically, I'm badgering the admin at the Middlesex University to let me have the poolat Trent Park for a reduced rate i.e. at least 50% of the sum they originally quoted.

I'm very envious of all these nice swimming pool venues that other clubs/chapters etc. get to run their sub runs in.

Anyway, if push comes to shove the pond at Colney Heath will be available one more, although we have some unexpected extra work to do following vandals breaking in once again and ripping up a bunch of paving slabs and chucking them in the pond!

Anyone go any ideas on anything they'd like to see included in this years event?

          Andy

Hey, I don't have any control over freewebspace.com's ads. In fact you are not allowed to remove them (it's in the terms & conditions).
Would you like to host it, mate!?

                    Paul.

                          Competitions is one idea. i.e.

Competitions is one idea. i.e. boat of the day, best runner etc.

A navigation competition is a bit of a stretch with the present location, as the pond is a bit on the weeny side.

I don't wish to lose the informal, FUN aspect of the day. I want modellers to come along, have a sail, have a natter, chill-out and relax. We were really blessed with the weather last year, although hayfever hit me with a vengeance so I spent most of the day with stinging, red eyes and a running nose!

Another idea would be to hold a raffle. This will be necessary if I manage to secure the Trent Park venue, as fees will be involved. It's either that or I will have to charge.

Clearly for a raffle to be successful, good prizes are needed, so I'd be hawking for donations.

                          Andy

                            Where is it

The potential event at Trent Park is the address of that :-

Trent Park, Cockfosters Road, Enfield, London, N14 England

Also mention has been made of an event which took place at Tadley, is that Tadley near Basingstoke and if so what is the address please.

                              Clive,

                              The event is near Cockfosters,

                              Clive,

The event is near Cockfosters, but Trent Park is a big ol' place, and the venue is a little tucked away if you don't know where it is. Not confirmed yet though, so don't start planning your route just yet.

Regarding the Tadley Show. It's organised by the Air Cadets, and they do keep things ticking along with military precision. However, it only takes place every two years, and the next one won't be until 2008.
