Some pictures of the venue. Pond size is roughly 80ft long by 40ft wide by 2 feet deep, so it suits small to medium sized boats best-

Steering my boat towards Colney Heath, both engines 'zweimal AK veraus'! If the pond is 2' deep I should be able to get my boat to periscope depth, which is all one really needs to do
Cant wait.
Oh, and are we still anticipating the bbq? Any entry fees?

BBQ can be arranged- we

BBQ can be arranged- we have the facilities.

A couple of potential snags are-

a) Someone has to be the cook.
b) If food is purchased, will it all get eaten?

So perhaps it's best to play it by ear a little. If I get lots of confirmed attendees, I'll field enquiries.

Meanwhile, regarding catering arrangements. There will be tea, coffee, soft drinks and light snacks like crisps, cakes etc. available at very reasonable prices from the coach at site.
You're quite welcome to bring your own refreshments along too.

There are several pubs in Colney Heath village that serve food, however they are a little way from the main site.

My advice to anyone attending, is to pack a good lunch for the day, and something for the evening, if you wish to keep sailing into dusk.

The site is really very nice. We have a live steam railway, and they will be running all day, rides are free.

In the meantime, would anyone reading this, and planning to attend please let me know your radio frequency, preferably with alternative crystals. This will greatly assist me in avoiding too many clashes, and help ensure everyone has the opportunity for a good days sailing.

Hello all,
first off a big thankyou to Andy for organising a good day on the pond in Hertfordshire, and the loan of a speed controller. Also thankyou to all those who gave me lots of help and advice with regard to the setup of my u boat.

Now then, here a some of the pictures that Nikki took whist we were all playing!!!



The crazy frog!!! I would like to be able to say that later on this frog was seen on the wintergarten in a deck chair, sporting a pair of raybans and sipping a pina collada! As it was, the frog stayed on this boat for the best part of an hour, even when submerged!



Type XXI u boat, which went in and out of the water somewhat regularly.



Ramesh's Lafayette. I think he shouldget the Nigel Mansell award for best driving. One or two very close scrapes at high submerged speed, but no collisions. Very good manouverabilty!!!



My boat. Listing to one side. It did this all day. I need to work on the trimming.

Well everyone seemed to enjoy

Well everyone seemed to enjoy it, and we certainly got the right weather.

Thanks to everyone who turned up on the day, especially those who had a long way to drive like Paul, and a very brave chap who ventured all the way down from Blackpool!

I thought Ramesh' Lafayette worked flawlessly- first time out too! One chap is apparently going to order one after seeing that boat perform.

Other highlights included seeing Nigel Edmonds scratchbuilt Holland getting a proper first dunking. Another fine performer.

Malcolm Hunt's beautifully engineered 'fish' made an appearance. These things are FAST. So fast in fact he didn't really get an opportunity to really crank open the throttle as the pond isn't quite deep enough.
