    UK active?

I have been pondering about the amount of people in the UK who make rc subs and their locations, so if your interesting in swapping good locations, tips, or general banter list your location and any other info here!

Im currently building a conversion of the revell viic, it is my first project, im situated in south london.

    Hi Paul,

    Welcome.

    Quite a lot happening

    [color=#000000]Hi Paul,

    Welcome.

Quite a lot happening in the UK but it tends to be a bit North and South. Events in the South are well covered by the AMS (email me for contact info etc).

I have recently moved to the North so I'm still seeking suitable home waters etc. My "two pennys worth" is that we had an excellent day last Sunday hosted by Bury MMMBS. Clarence Park lake, Bury is new to me but it is an excellent lake good for submarines(with a good half dozen evident last Sunday including my R7.)

My usual lake is at Barrow in Furness (Home of 1]

      There are plenty of shows

There are plenty of shows throughout the year, especially south of the river, where submariners meet up throughout the year.

The AMS is prominent throughout the South East, although most of the active members are also members of the Sub Committee!

A good place to look out for upcoming shows are 'Marine modelling' and also 'Model Boats' magazines.

I'm a member of the North London Society of Model Engineers, we have about half a dozen model submariners in our club.

          Hi Paul,
          another Paul here -

          Hi Paul,
another Paul here - I live near bournemouth in dorset and am currently working on my otw type vii. There is a nice pond just off the M27 in the new forest, but I usually go to a more local one over the road from Bournemouth hospital - the nearest club (that runs in fresh water) use a pond next to fawley petrol refinery (waterside model club). I may wind up joining them!

            Paul,

Nice boat, the OTW, need a big puddle to sink it in though. That's always the problem with big boats, especially here in the UK where we're not exactly blessed with the best waters for sailing subs in.

The Germans seem to have the best venues. They hire filthy great outdoor swimming pools for their 'Treffens'.

            I'm not jealous you understand.............!

                Paul,

Also the inner pond at Child Beale near Reading is very good for subs and they are having a boat show on 8/9 October. (I intend to go)

There is a Norwich sub day on 27 August which should be good by all accounts.

                Get building!

it is - the October boat show.

Quite a good pond about 10 feet deep - water rather murky, though. My sub successfully rescued once already from the bottom!!

I will probably go both days.

The local club is the Mid Thames model boat club
