    SubRon 8 September Fun Run

Today we had our last outdoor SubRon 8 Fun Run. It was well attended by
Bruce and Rick from Canada, Bob and Helen from Ohio, Jim from Pennsylvania,
    and all the 8 balls.

Unfortunately only one boat got wet and it was not a Submarine! Greg squeezed in a
run with a target in between the raindrops. The rest of us stayed dry under the shelter
looking at and discussing the different boats in attendance. Don May cooked the hamburgs
and hots and we all ate and enjoyed each other’s company. Even with the rain, a good
    time was had by all.

    Here are some pics.

USCGC KUKUI (WAK 186) is the black hulled Coast Guard freighter. KUKUI was an ALAMOSA class cargo ship that built, repaired and supplied the LORAN stations in the Pacific, The model is in 1/96th scale and is 42.375" long and 6.25" beam; and weighs 11 pounds. Here are the answers to some of the questions I was asked. The 14 cargo winches took 43 hours to build and paint. The LCM-3's took 65 hours to build. The cargo boom rigging took 14 hours.
