    Suggesting joint Fun Run.

I miss those days I'd load the car up and travel off-Island thru NY Metro to meet up with the original "Jersey Boy's.

When the COVID Crisis fade's, hopefully come spring, and you folks are up to it, perhaps we (SubComLI) can meet up with SubComEast for a full day Fun Run.

Make it an event somewhere between a simple gathering of folks and a full blown SubRegatta.

I would like to honor what I consider the birthplace of NorthEast RC community by having the meet at the Sayreville Pond where it all started for many of us years ago.
Personally, it appears to be a great venue, and not too dificult for us on the Island to get to.

I would even like to consider a yearly gathering on that Anniversary date.

I/We will of course assist on any details and planning. COVID not withstanding we can still meet and just practice COVID protocols, we do that EVERY Sunday.

If interested, whoever oversees SCE please PM me.

          ALCON,

Joe Oliver has formally learned that due to COVID-19, the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) at Naval Submarine Base in Groton has shut down onsite activities to personnel not attached to the base for an indefinite period of time.

With this in mind, he, Ray Mason and I are seeking to host an alternate location, possibly before Carmel's mid August timeframe. (mid/late July?)

The location I suggested, and that Joe heartily agreed to, is indeed the one mentioned in the original post, John F. Kennedy Park, Sayreville NJ.

So I'm asking the personal from SubComEast to chip in (even if just by saying you'll show up and do so) and join us in this endeavor. A local aiding in logistics would be great! I think we can have a blast.

We all talk a good game about growing the hobby, having activities, and member retention. Now here's you're chance to do something other than pay lip service. This even, like any event, is the basis to bring new people onboard.

If you're sitting there saying to yourself, "Why bother? The other guy will take care of it.", remember he is thinking that too. YOU have to do it, collectively. I'm sure there are folks out there who are alone geographically wishing they had a local Chapter with events and would do anything to help.

You want this hobby to grow, and have more events? Reread that sentence just before this.

I don't know what good I could do from West Virginia, but that lake was my first ever look at an actual r/c sub. I'd be happy to volunteer whatever time and/or services I can towards this goal.

First off Eric, you showing up just to enjoy a stoagie with me is good enough. I will have on hand for next time.

I think your primary skill/role REGARDLESS of the venue/location is SC Photographer. YOU are the man when it comes to that.
I win the lotto, we go to to every meet just to have you do that...and enjoy a stoagie!

Joe will make it happen regardless of help, I'm just stirring the pot to get all the Monday night Quarterbacks and complainers up to do something.

PS. Was that in 91? If so, do you have the video? My ex flamed all my stuff.
