The shape of things to come (in MY 96th Scale fleet) , ESMM Club, and the SEAVIEW!!

Take a Digi-key Experimenters box, some servos and electronics, a touch of battery and ballast tank along with a dash of 12V 800 gph modified bilge pump (THANKS Bob Martin!!) and I have the makings of a 1/96 bubble boat.... times two!!

For those who don't know it yet, we spent Friday night with the Empire State Model Mariners (ESMM) at their XMAS Party.

They may be Targets, but can they add detail!! An awesome group!!

Ray Irving and myself became members and will be joining them in Queens during the running season. Urban sub run's...most cool. Not far from CitiField either lol

We're considered the Clubs "Undersea Warfare Group"

Having a local club of RC Mariners, who run consistently and enjoy fellowship, is important.

These folks have history, I've watched them from afar since the late '80's. Fred Swendsen was instrumental in finally getting us together

Speaking a detail, a VERY new local modeler (to us) has been working up his own SSRN SEAVIEW. It is actually made from Ray Mason's "shortened" hull molds (to fit in his long gone Mitsubishi van for those of you who remember), he added the missing 16" of midsection.
This puppy measures on the order of 102" long"!!! Man how I love BIG RC Subs!!
He plans to have a working RC Flying Sub drop out, as well as working diving bell, stern torpedoes and 2 working missile tubes.

Talk about ambitious..his detail alone is incredible!!

I introduce Frank Salerno's behemoth SEAVIEW molded from the original Ray Mason molds!!

Frank worked back in the day at the same place Ray did, hence the history. While Ray worked as a videographer, and an exellent dteail orientated modeler himself, Frank worked in Grumman's modeling shop, where Ray would get goodied and advice.

You folks know Grumman, they built everyday things like the famous F14 Tomcat series, F18 Hornet and of course the LEM, which landed and returned men from the Lunar surface to Lunar orbit.

    Wow, that Seaview is gorgeous!
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.
